Pippin Contemporary and other stuff

A great gallery I show with in Santa Fe let me know that a few newspapers had picked up an exhibition notice. You can read it here.

I have been trying to keep the work coming and here a few process (i know) shots.

Lastly I wanted to share this video. I heard this song last week and I was blown away. My first thought was, "how have I never heard this before". You'll see, but I thought it was vintage. Just amazing rock n' roll. Enjoy!

Speaking of Family

My brother Rhys sent me this email earlier:

I just watched a youtube video about john baldessari (narrated by tom waits) in which he says 'if the artist says it's art, it's art.'

watch here

art indeed!

Half the Story

Paul Marioni is having a show at The Tacoma Museum of Art. That is over simplifying it a bit....
Paul is in a group show with his favorite artists: Marina and Dante Marioni. Finally, we can see the world's most amazing family of art, on display, in one building.

Watch a video of Paul here.

If you go to the Tacoma Museum of Art you will find a family, not so different as yours or mine, just on display and doing it well.

Viewing

There is work in the glue room, work in the cold shop, work in the annealer, and work on the pedestal. It feels like I have hit the groove in east TN. Not taking anything for granted, just saying.

I asked a few friends to define art. It seems like a monumental if not fruitless task but I knew they were up for it. I received great responses and will pop them in the blog here and there. I am always curious how others perceive the world around them and through these examinations I often learn more about my perceptions.

Today, I am dropping Paul Marioni's response. Paul sent a Nietzsche quote that I know he didn't just google, because it is on the chalkboard in his kitchen.

"We have art in order to not die of the truth" ---Nietzsche

You can almost stare into the abyss after thinking about that for awhile.
