The last few months have been spent digging in on a developing process. The work that is emerging has an elemental elegance that I have been striking at for some time. 

Though I feel a gravity pulling me from this orbit I thought I would share the new pieces that have been created. 

I will soon post images of work that is returning from a show in Florida.

      New things are bubbling up.
 I have been in Knoxville now for 4 years, and it has been a rollercoaster.
For the last year I have had the great fortune to be a part of The Pretentious Beer Glass Company and it has been the an amazing experience with the best people and I am sad to say goodbye to them.
 If you are lucky the Universe calls to you and tells you were to go.
I recently accepted a position at STARworks in North Carolina as their production manager. My family and I have been feverishly preparing to move and reestablish ourselves in a new place.
As we stuff our lives into boxes and stress over selling houses, we are riding a high that only comes with striking out for adventure.
 I have been hoping to revive this blog and I think you will be seeing more soon.

 As I pack I am coming across art work new and old. If anything strikes you please let me know we can work something out. We need fuel and you need fuel.

STARworks

  In the middle of North Carolina there is an amazing collection of people busy pulling a phoenix from the ashes of a sock factory. STARworks has an amazing facility for glass and ceramics and is also the home of Wet Dog Glass. 

  I was lucky enough to be asked to come and spend a week at star as a visiting artist. I knew that this would be a productive time for me as I had been incubating a few new ideas and hadn't really been producing much art. I had no idea just how amazing the trip would turn out to be. The people of the glass studio: Joe Grant, Tom Zogas, and George Dielman; made my time there very productive. They completely supported my vision and brought an energy and enthusiasm to every one of my days there.

It was refreshing to be in an isolated location with a community of dedicated artists working all around. Thusly, it very much reminded me of my time at the Appalachian Center for Craft; which is very much a good thing. I am currently working on finishing the work that I made while in Star, lots and lots of grinding and polishing. Here are some process photos to hold you over internet. I will get back at you all soon with pictures of the finished pieces. 

Trickster's Iguana Mask

Trickster's Iguana Mask is a piece I made the blank for in Illinois with Matthew Cummings. I was at ISU as a visiting artist and living in New Mexico at the time. The southwest was definitely exerting force on my work and still is. I have more of this series waiting to be finished, but I like revisiting that head space every now and then. The piece is blown glass, cut, and acid etched. It measures 9" x 16" x 5".

Things have been percolating around the studio lately; I have been working hard and staying busy (and after I write this I will get right back to work Paul).

Just a few announcements to declare. 

 First

 I have the honor of being in the National Liberty Museum's live section of their glass auction. I will unfortunately not be attending the auction, but for those of you taking the trip to Philly let me know how it goes.

Second

  Taking Shape a show I am in, will be traveling to SOFA this year and I will join the work in Chicago for a visit. Please let me know if any of you will be in The Windy City as well. I would love to have the opportunity of catching up in person. If you can not make it to SOFA the show will travel back to Asheville and be up for a few months.
